Accessibility Statement
This statement was last updated on May 25, 2026.
We at Kauaʻi Planning and Action Alliance and GetFit Kauaʻi are working to make our Kalena Park and our website site accessible to people with disabilities.
Our Commitment
Kalena Park Friends is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to everyone — including individuals with disabilities. We believe that access to information about our park, programs, and community should not be a barrier for anyone. This commitment reflects both our values as a community organization and our obligations under applicable law.
Applicable Legal Standards
Kalena Park and this website strives to comply with the following laws and standards:
Federal
-
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title III — which requires that nonprofits and other organizations open to the public provide equal access to their goods, services, and information, including digital content.
-
Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended — to the extent applicable based on any federal funding received by Kalena Park Friends.
State of Hawaiʻi
-
Hawaiʻi Revised Statutes §368-1.5 — which prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in places of public accommodation in the State of Hawaiʻi.
-
The Hawaiʻi Electronic Information Technology Disability Access Standards, established under Act 172, Session Laws of Hawaiʻi 2022 — which set the statewide standard for accessible digital content, consistent with federal Section 508 and WCAG guidelines. While Act 172 formally applies to state entities, we adopt its standards as a best practice and reflection of our community's values.
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
We strive to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including those with visual, auditory, physical, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.
